Continuing Nursing Education

KSNA Member Recognition for Excellence in Continuing Nursing Education

Each year KSNA recognizes nurses who exceed the minimum criteria for continuing education in Kansas. A Certificate of Excellence in Continuing Education will be awarded to qualified professional nurses. The names of those achieving this level of recognition will be awarded a certificate at the KSNA Awards Luncheon during annual convention and have their names published in The Kansas Nurse. In addition to CE program attendance, publications as well as research may be considered towards completion of requirements for this recognition. Please enclose a copy of the article, book index page with name and date of publication, and a signed affidavit attesting to the applicant’s role in the submitted research. The time frame must correspond with the applicant’s Kansas license renewal period.

Application for Continuing Nurses Education Contact Hours

Over the last year and a half five state nurses associations (SNAs) formed a collaborative, namely the Midwest Multistate Division (Midwest MSD), with the goal of promoting efficiencies and growth.  State nurses associations participating in this collaborative include Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and North Dakota.  Each SNA will retain its own state identity while utilizing shared resources within the Midwest MSD. As part of this collaborative, the Midwest MSD Continuing Nursing Education Unit (CNE Unit) was formed. The Midwest MSD is accredited as an approver and provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

The Midwest MSD offers two approval processes for agencies/organizations/facilities to utilize to obtain continuing nursing education for programs they provide:

Individual Education Activities

Organizations interested in awarding nursing contact hours for one, single educational activity or conference

Approved Providers

Organizations interested in receiving approval to award nursing contact hours for multiple educational activities provided to nurses within their organization or their target audience.

Applications for each type of approval have been streamlined, staff resources expanded, policies and procedures updated.  The new Midwest MSD website provides a wealth of information for those considering applying.
